Education

Education in Antigonish is about more than just reading, writing and arithmetic.

The Strait Regional School Board, which operates public schooling in Antigonish, has set forth a mission to ‘provide all students with educational opportunities that will help them gain the necessary skills to develop mentally, physically and socially in a learning environment that enhances and fosters positive self-esteem.’

The board offers seven different grade schools, from Primary to Grade 12, with full French Immersion programs. For parents and guardians who want to engage in their children’s education, the board operates a Strait Up program. It’s used by teachers to advise parents/guardians and students about current classroom work, projects, activities, upcoming tests and assignments, and other classroom expectations.
